Lena meets Chris at the community center. She sees him pulling clothes out of the drop-off bin, where people donate clothes to charity. Immediately assuming he's stealing the clothes to re-sell them, she yells at him in a fit of indignation, which startles him. He slips and falls on the icy ground, injuring himself. A closer glance reveals that his clothes are tattered and torn, and he is filthy -- clearly, he had been trying to get clothes for himself and was not stealing them. Feeling guilty that she had caused him to be hurt, and realising that as a homeless person, he has nowhere else to go, Lena helps him up and brings him home to tend to his injuries. But not before staring into his eyes and getting mesmerised to the point of forgetting where she is and what she's supposed to be doing.

Chris, on the other hand, is so used to people recognising him that he thinks Lena is playing some sort of game to get something from him. Constantly having people fawning over him due to his billions has caused him to become exceedingly cynical. At the same time he's totally in lust with Lena, and would jump her bones if she would only stop playing silly games and be straight with him. He refuses to believe that she doesn't have any clue who he really is.

I'm so tired of these instantly-in-lust plotlines that contemporary romance writers love to use. You know the type -- the moment the characters set eyes on each other, they completely lose their train of thought and all they can think of is getting their hands on each other. Suddenly completely normal and intelligent people are at the utter mercy of their hormones, act totally out of character and couldn't make a rational decision to save their lives.

Apart from that, I understood Chris's cynicism but I felt the writer carried it a little too far. It was a relief when Chris finally realises and accepts that Lena really doesn't know who he is. Unfortunately, he then starts to actively conceal his identity from her, because it's such a novelty to be treated as an ordinary man rather than as a famous billionaire. I thought this incredibly stupid, since he's so famous that obviously she'd be bound to find out sooner or later.

As for Lena, well, I thought she was somewhat too stupid to live. No matter how good at ju-jitsu I am or how guilty I feel, as a single girl I'd never invite a stranger to live in my house with me. She can see that Chris is obviously in good health, well-built, not at all like a typical starving homeless person, yet she doesn't suspect a thing. In fact, she keeps making excuses for him and rationalizes things inside her head. She doesn't ask Chris any of the hard questions, wanting to wait for him to trust her and tell her without her needing to ask.

I really didn't like the climax of the story, where all was revealed. It was overdone and there was no sense to it. (**SPOILERS**) For example, why did Jake sneak into the house late at night? Why did he automatically assume that Chris was actually after him? Why didn't Chris simply tell Jake that he had mistaken Jake for an intruder and apologize, which would have defused the situation immediately? Where did Chris learn that move he used on Jake?

The author also needs an editor. There are numerous spelling errors which spellcheck wouldn't catch, because the wrong word was used in place of the one she should have chosen. For example: instead of a conscience, her characters had a conscious; instead of the worst thing, it was the worse thing; characters were at a lost instead of at a loss; they fell instead of feel; have great physic instead of physique; are evolved instead of involved; someone eased dropped instead of eavesdropped; and so on. There was some wrong use of commas too, giving rise to run-on sentences. In several places, the author wrote the name Jason when she meant Chris, which was very confusing.

Overall, it's not a very interesting or romantic story.

I liked Lena and Chris.
Lena is someone who believes in people.
Chris has lost his faith in people.
They find each other in unusual circumstances.
I would recommend.
